SWARMSM
(See What Action Really Means):

SWARMSM is a proven, effective process to accelerate and improve business results. Through years of successfully motivating groups to peak performance, Aslinger & Associates have developed SWARMSM, a proprietary model, which combines Kaizen, GE Workout, and large-scale/community tools. It cuts through bureaucracy and indecision while developing leaders who can mobilize others to extraordinary performance. In this activity, we facilitate a group of decision makers and contributors who are challenged by a real-world situation. The group utilizes our SWARMSM process to study the situation, consider alternatives, decide what actions to take, and then build an implementation plan to start immediately following the SWARMSM.

SWARMSM solves problems and improves performance in situations that involve only a few people or several hundred. SWARMSM is ideal at the front end of an initiative that is designed to improve product quality, increase department/ division profitability, or launch Lean/Six SigmaSM.

In an intensive three-day working session, a carefully selected group of leaders and other company resources come together to take bold action that produces dramatic business results - results that have immediate and near term impact.

During a 3 day SWARMSM session, participants engage projects such as the following:

  • Assess Critical-to-Quality customer and stakeholder needs.
  • Translate the organization's top priorities into a well-defined set of improvement projects, targets, and action plans.
  • Receive go/no-go decisions from their senior leader on all proposed actions and projects: no waiting!
  • Organize the people, accountabilities, and follow-up systems to ensure that intended results are achieved and sustained.
  • Generate enthusiasm, excitement and ownership for creating action that is carried into the project execution phase and beyond.
  • Obtain the clarity of focus and authorization for action that delivers a step-change in performance within three months.

The following are some successes that Aslinger & Associates' clients have experienced with SWARMSM:

  • A production operation that was out of capacity and about to invest $5 million to increase capacity by 100% was targeted during a 3-day SWARMSM session. Powerful improvement methodology introduced during the session led to a 75% increase in capacity within two months for a capital cost of only 1% of the original proposal. This enabled immediate capture of $5 million in additional business from an existing customer, among other benefits.
  • A SWARMSM project group was chartered to improve the price quotation process for custom orders. Quote response time was reduced by 90%; pricing errors were reduced by 50%; staffing was reduced by 3 people. All of these results were achieved within 90 days.
  • Leaders from Marketing, Sales, R&D and Manufacturing of a $600 million division collaborated on a product simplification and manufacturing improvement strategy. During the 3-day SWARMSM session, decisions were made to eliminate specific products, change manufacturing locations (to improve quality & productivity), and initiate product development activities aimed at further streamlining of product offerings and reduction in overall inventory levels and manufacturing costs.
